The overall goal (and challenge) with photographing a product like golf clubs is paying close attention to the shininess of the chrome, the angle of how the clubs lay, and the detailing of the metallic lines and club . The way the light, shadows, and reflection is shown in the images is of utmost importance and the biggest desire from the client.
Execution
Consistency amongst setup was super important. The slightest adjustment of a light or golf club could make or break the outcome. Lighting was constantly being added, removed, and tweaked in the smallest of ways to achieve the desired outcome. Working closely with the owners and having instant feedback was vital. After getting clean and bright studio shots, we were able to get more playful with the clubs in regards to layout and dramatic lighting. Additionally, we had the opportunity to take the clubs to the course and capture them with model who gave them some good swings on the green.
